Youth RE Program Overview
All youth (9-12th grade) begin their Sunday morning experience in the sanctuary in worship service with their families. Most Sundays, they are "sung out" to their classes after the Message for All Ages (about 15 minutes or so into the regular worship service.)
Religious Exploration classes and activities last 15 minutes after the worship service.
After their third visit, families must complete the UCH RE registration form. This helps our Director of Religious Exploration monitor attendance, communicate with families, and tailor activities for their children & youth.
Monthly Youth RE Programming Includes:
Youth RE is scheduled alternating weeks at each campus to increase exposure to the congregation and work with Youth schedules.
Two weeks of Youth-Advisor-staffed programmed curriculum: This year is UU Identity and leadership development through Bringing the Web to Life, discussion of current events through a UU lens, planning of Youth-Led Service (Spring 2018), and planning of Youth Service opportunities (spring and early summer 2018).
Two-to-three weeks of less structured activity: Youth may participate/assist in Action or MakerSpace, or attending service as a group/serving in the sanctuary (as lay liturgist, greeter, usher, performer, running sound, setting up for coffee hour, etc.).
Young Adult/Adult RE programming includes:
In early 2018, Young Adult-focused programming is in a growing phase, currently working with Rev. Lyn and Young Adults to listen to problems and solutions.
