Fellowship Opportunities

Hanging of the greens

The Hanging of the Greens is the beginning of, what we hope, will be a new tradition at UCH, combining old customs with new understandings of preparing for the holiday season. Like many Christian denominations, pagan practices and other winter time observances from around the world, on Sunday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. we will gather to sing, have readings, share inspiration and jointly decorate our sanctuary and foyer with trimmings from various evergreens, holly and other seasonal greens.

Included in the decorations will be our holiday tree and live poinsettias that members and friends will be able to pre-purchase and take home on Christmas Eve. Also craft tables will be set up within the sanctuary for all to help make paper chains and other decorations to display.

At 11:45 all who wish to attend will go down to the fellowship room to share in a variety of soups, chilies and desserts.

Our menu will include:
- Many variations of chili or soup, including vegetarian
- Bread including gluten-free
- Salad and/or fruit
- Cookies.

Holiday punch and the usual coffee hour drinks will be provided. Let us celebrate together the coming of the holiday seasons. Sign up here to bring a dish.

Poinsettia Sale Fundraiser

There are two order thresholds. For orders received by Friday, November 29, the poinsettias will be available for the Hanging of the Greens Service on December 1.  Otherwise, the deadline is Dec. 6 and the plants will be brought to the church the following week.

Debbie Reihart will take care of making sure the plants are watered so they stay nice for Christmas Eve Services, after which people can take them home.  If people can't make the Christmas Eve Service but still would like to order flowers, they can take them home earlier.

Any questions, please email Debbie at deborah.reihart@gmail.com

See order form for more details. Printed forms available at the Church or by clicking here.
